NHL prospect out cold in scary collision

//

University of Connecticut freshman Ruslan Ishakov has been stretched off the rink after a terrifying hit left him face down unconscious on the ice.

The 18 year old Russian prospect who has already been drafted by the New York Islanders is completing his college career before stepping up to the NHL.

But all the talent in the world couldn’t prepare Ishakov for the hit he copped while playing against Quinnipac on Wednesday.

While chasing the puck into Qunnipac’s zone the slight 69kg winger was unsuspectingly laid out by an opponent as he was sent crashing to the ice.

Ishakov concerningly lay motionless face-down on the ice as play came to a halt before being stretchered off.

“Ruslan Iskhakov was transported to the hospital from the arena during last night’s game at Quinnipiac for precautionary reasons,” UConn said in a satement.

“All tests were normal and he was released from the hospital. He is currently back on campus in Storrs and is doing well. He will be evaluated on a game-by-game basis with no timetable set for a return.”
