Royal burn for AFL Footy Show host

//

The AFL Footy Show stars aren't backing down on roasting host Tony Jones just because the season is over.

In fact, they found a way to stitch up 'Chompers' with a little help from the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle.

During the newlywed Duchess' visit to Australia this week as part of a royal tour with Prince Harry, Markle took part in a handballing drill at Government House in Melbourne.

The American was snapped having a crack at handballing a Sherrin, which drew the attention of former AFL star and Jones' fellow Footy Show panellist, Kane Cornes, who wasted no time in using the image to publicly mock Jones.

"Impressive. [Tony Jones] take note," Cornes tweeted with a photo of Markle in action.

"Get stuffed, Kane," Jones fired back on Twitter.

The joke was in reference to Jones' embarrassing on-air gaffe during a show last month. He copped a heap of flak from fans after taking on AFL journalist Damien Barrett in a handball challenge on the Footy Show, using his left hand.

Jones woefully misfired his handball attempts well off the intended target, much to the amusement of AFL Footy Show panellists Nathan Brown, Billy Brownless and Essendon hero Matthew Lloyd who burst into uncontrollable laughter during the now infamous segment.
