Seibold reportedly receives unanimous Broncos vote

//

The Brisbane Broncos board has reportedly unanimously voted for Anthony Seibold to replace Wayne Bennett as the head coach of the club from 2020.

According to a Courier Mail report, the Broncos board met at the club's headquarters for a board meeting on Tuesday evening where they formally backed the Rabbitohs coach.

Brisbane is likely to make the appointment official in the coming days according to the report.

The move to back Seibold comes after Broncos CEO Paul White having continuous negotiations with Seibold over the past week.

According to the Courier Mail, Seibold beat out a list of three other prospective candidates including Queensland coach Kevin Walters, Broncos assistant Jason Demetriou and newly-appointed Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire.

The Broncos board reportedly heard through White how the 44-year-old was the most impressive candidate in the interview process.

"The Broncos board heard how Seibold blitzed the interview process, with the 44-year-old former university lecturer rated “a cut above” Walters, Demetriou and Maguire in their respective presentations," the report said.

"Seibold also performed well in psychometric testing held by an independent company, giving the Broncos board compelling evidence he has the skill-set to break the club’s 13-year premiership drought."
