Aristia claims 2018 Kennedy Oaks

//

Aristia has claimed the 2018 Kennedy Oaks in a scintillating chase down on ladies day.

The three-year-old backed up her impressive win in the Wakeful Stakes on Saturday with a beautiful run led by jockey Damian Lane.

Hot favourite and Empire Rose winner, Amphitrite, was nowhere to be seen as she lost her legs coming into the straight. The filly never looked like finding her stride as she crossed the post in last place.

Aristia impressed with a clinical run, maintaining a favourable position into the straight as she ran down Greysful Glamour in the final 300m.

Miner's Miss ran out of track to catch the front runner's in a commendable finish which almost saw a fairytale ending for Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne running for her father Paddy Payne for the first time.

Jockey Damian Lane was overjoyed after the race as he celebrated the filly's performance.

"This is easily my biggest fill in racing, just elation as I went over the line," he said.

MORE TO COME.
