Barrett a no-show at Manly training

//

Replaced Manly coach Trent Barrett opted against attending the NRL club's pre-season training on Friday as his four-month battle with the Sea Eagles continues.

Despite a Daily Telegraph report stating Barrett would show up for training, the former Manly coach stayed away from the club's Narrabeen base.

Manly has since announced Des Hasler as its new coach, with non-representative players returning to training this week and meeting their new mentor.

There were reports that both men would turn up to work on the same day last Monday, but attention surrounding the situation kept them away.

Hasler attended a meeting last week that attempted to find a financial conclusion to Barrett's situation but Barrett's people didn't agree with the terms set and the matter remains up in the air.

It's said Hasler is frustrated that the Barrett situation hasn’t been resolved.

The newly signed coach has been pushing for an end to the issue so he can clear the baggage and start preparing for the 2019 season.

Hasler has stated he doesn’t want Barrett around Narrabeen because it would send mixed messages to the players.
