Durant takes aim at 'corny, weak' NBA fans

//

Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant has slapped back at heckling NBA supporters after being fined $25,000 for directing inappropriate language toward a fan.

After last week's heated argument with teammate Draymond Green left Durant agitated, he was then slugged with the fine announced by Kiki VanDeWeghe, the NBA's executive vice president of basketball operations.

The incident occurred with 1:01 remaining in the first quarter of the Warriors' 112-109 road loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.

Durant told a heckler in the crowd at American Airlines Centre to "watch the "f---ing game and shut the f--- up".

The 2014 NBA MVP was being interviewed by Yahoo Sports when he learnt of the fine amount, and had some more to say about the incident, expressing disappointment at the actions of the hecklers.

"More fans should understand what that means," Durant said, referring to the colourful phrase he used at the fan.

"Grown men can't come to the game and heckle grown men. That's corny, that's weak.

"You coming to the game to heckle another grown man... 'You soft, you weak, Draymond this, Draymond that, you a b----'.

"You're going to sleep as a grown man doing that to another person?"

Green was the only player suspended for a game (without pay) against the Atlanta Hawks after his November 12 altercation with Durant.

With the tirade between the two causing aftershocks at Golden State, there's speculation that Durant might be ready to move on through free agency in the summer.

He has struggled on the court during the Warriors' 1-4 stretch, shooting 3-for-21 from three-point range. He did score 32 points in the loss to the Mavericks, but missed all four of his three-point attempts.
