Ingles' career-best ruins Hayward's homecoming

//

Australian NBA star Joe Ingles has turned in yet another dazzling shooting display, pouring in a career-best 27 points as the Utah Jazz prevailed over the Boston Celtics.

Ingles was unstoppable all night, as he outduelled the Jazz's former small forward Gordon Hayward on Hayward's first return to Utah since leaving the team as a free agent in 2017 in a 123-115 Utah win.

The 31-year-old Australian was lights out from the field, knocking down 10 of his 14 field goals including five three-point shots to go along with five rebounds and an equal team-high seven assists.

Ingles did most of his damage in a scintillating first half, scoring 20 points on an astounding 8-of-9 from the field with four made threes as he became the fourth Australian-born NBA player to score 20 points in a first half.

The outstanding performance continued what has been an excellent season for the Australian veteran, who is averaging a career-best 12.6 points per game in 11 starts for the Jazz this season.

Since making his debut for the Jazz back in 2014, Ingles has developed a cult following throughout the NBA due to his nondescript appearance, and fans were out in full force on Twitter to praise him for outplaying Hayward.
