Johnson's management reveal intriguing twist

//

The Shaun Johnson saga has taken another intriguing twist with revelations that he is only available to rival clubs for 2019.

Wide World of Sports has learned that Johnson’s management has told clubs they can only sign the Kiwi Test star on a one-year deal - suggesting he has already come to terms for a club for 2020.

If that is the case, the Roosters would seem Johnson’s eventual long-term home, given that Cooper Cronk is retiring at the end of next season.

Sources at the Roosters say they want more of an organising halfback, but they may also find the lure of a world-class player like Johnson too great.

Parramatta is another club that may be interested in the talented playmaker for 2020.

Johnson was released by the Warriors earlier today and is in the sights of several clubs, with Cronulla the favourites to gain his services.

The Sharks have money up their sleeves following Valentine Holmes’ shock decision to try making his name in the NFL.

They plan to move the versatile Matt Moylan to fullback to replace him, leaving a vacancy in the halves.
