Simmons held as 76ers fall to embarrassing defeat

//

Ben Simmons has been well-held as the Philadelphia 76ers suffered a shock home defeat to the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers.

Simmons finished with a double-double of 22 points and 10 assists, but was curiously quiet throughout the majority of the contest as the league-worst Cavaliers ran out 121-112 winners.

The loss gave Cleveland its first road win of the young season, while the Sixers suffered their first defeat in 11 outings at home.

Cleveland came out of the games with a 31-23 first quarter and led for the majority of the game outside of a few minutes in the second half where the Sixers held a brief lead.

The Cavaliers were led by shooting guard Rodney Hood who poured in 25 points including five three-pointers, while rookie guard Collin Sexton impressed once again with 23 points and three assists.

Philadelphia's scoring effort was shouldered by its starters, who combined for 95 of the team's 112 points on the night.

Sixers big man Joel Embiid continued his strong start to the season with 24 points, 12 rebounds and three assists on 8-of-13 shooting.

Simmons and the Sixers will look to bounce back from their loss as they travel to Brooklyn to take on the Nets at the Barclays Center on Monday.

The result came as fans noticed the presence of supermodel Kendall Jenner at the game supporting Simmons and the 76ers.

Jenner and Simmons were romantically linked throughout the summer, but reports suggested that the couple's relationship had come to an end.
