Aussie willing to risk death for father's record

//

Young men growing up in Australia often idolise their fathers and attempt to emulate their actions, but for one Australian hero, trying to emulate his father comes with the ultimate risk.

David Warby is currently attempting to emulate his father Ken, who holds the water speed world record at an incredible 511 km/h.

However, David's goal comes with the highest risk, with 85 percent of challengers to Ken's record having perished thus far.

Warby had his final trial run at Blowering Dam on Saturday and reached speeds in excess of 420 km/h ahead of his official world record attempt in March.

The Blowering Dam trial run was particularly significant in the attempt, as it is the same stretch of water where his father broke the record over 40 years ago.

Ken Warby is currently the only man in history to design, build and drive a boat to an Outright, Unlimited World Water Speed Record; he is also the only man alive to ever hold this record.

David’s aim is to not only beat his father’s record, but to eventually reach 560 kmph and become the fastest man on water globally.
