Keeper's commentary gold wins Big Bash

//

Tim Ludeman just delivered one of the BBL's truly marvellous moments - not with a bat or ball, but an on-field microphone.

The Melbourne Renegades wicketkeeper was mic'd up for his side's Sunday night clash against the Adelaide Strikers when FOX Cricket commentator Adam Gilchrist asked him to reel off his best Richie Benaud impersonation.

Ludeman did not disappoint (watch and listen in the video above), cracking up former greats Gilchrist, Darren Lehmann and Mike Hussey up in the commentary box.

“Welcome back to the Adelaide Oval for the first time today,” Ludeman said, his 12th Man-style of Benaud's iconic voice spot on.

“A short time ago we caught up with Gilly, Huss and Boof and what a fantastic job they’re doing. It’s been marvellous so far here today, big crowd here in at the Adelaide Oval. It’s pretty evenly poised, I think.”

Having delivered A+ Benaud, Ludeman was asked for his impression of another Channel 9 cricket commentary legend, Tony Greig.

“Last ball here from Shinwari,” Ludeman said, in Greig's thick South African accent.

“He’s been doing a fantastic job for the Renegades. Hopefully he doesn’t give him too much room and open up the off side for Short.

“Yes, very well bowled. 3/86 after 13.”

Ludeman had the last laugh in the match, too, with the Renegades getting the points at Adelaide Oval.
