Aussie underdogs stand in the way of Germany's final hopes

//

Day seven of the Hopman Cup kicks off in Perth with Spain to take on France during the day and Australia facing Germany in the evening.

Germany won their opening tie against Spain 3-0, and will guarantee themselves a spot in Saturday's final with victory over Australia on Friday night.

Even a 2-1 loss in that tie might be enough for Germany to sneak through depending on other results.

Germany's powerful pairing of world No.2 Angelique Kerber and world No.4 Alexander Zverev are favourites to beat Australian duo Matt Ebden and Ashleigh Barty.

Already in the Hopman Cup final for a second straight year is Switzerland, after 20-time grand slam champion Roger Federer beat exciting young Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas on Thursday night.

Both Germany and Australia are chasing their third Cup titles.
