Bancroft receives mixed reaction after landmark innings

//

Former Australian Test batsman Cameron Bancroft has scored his first half-century since returning from a nine-month ban to lead his Perth Scorchers to a BBL win.

In his third outing since his return, the 26-year-old opener looked as fluent as ever, slamming two sixes and four boundaries in a brisk 42-ball 59.

Chasing 147 for victory against the Melbourne Stars at the MCG, Bancroft and veteran opener Michael Klinger put on 75 runs for the first wicket, as the Scorchers prevailed with a six wicket win.

While paceman Andrew Tye starred with the ball, finishing with figures of 4/18 in his four overs, the story of the night was Bancroft, who received a mixed reception from the crowd in attendance upon reaching his milestone.

Following the opening onslaught from Bancroft, Scorchers skipper Ashton Turner put the finishing touches on the win with an unbeaten 22-ball 43.
