Kyrgios fumes as Ajla loses dodgy final

//

Ajla Tomljanovic has collapsed from 5-2 up in the deciding set to lose the WTA Thailand Open final to Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska, who took a controversial medical time-out that had the Aussie player's boyfriend - Nick Kyrgios - fuming.

Sixth seed Tomljanovic missed out on her first WTA title when she fell 6-2 2-6 7-6 (7-3) in two hours, 22 minutes in Hua Hin. She was just two points away from winning the match and is now 0-4 in WTA finals.

Yastremska, 18, broke for a 2-0 lead in the third set but lost the next five games. She then called for a medical time-out to have a trainer treat her left leg, in what looked suspiciously like an act of gamesmanship.

It worked: the teen won the next four games and then out-hit Tomljanovic in the tie-break, wrapping up the title with a forehand winner on her first match point. Tomljanovic crossed the net for a curt handshake with Yastremska, while Kyrgios slammed the time-out.

Yastremska won her first career title four months ago in Hong Kong. The wait goes on for Tomljanovic, 25.
