Backstage brawl mars UFC London

//

For all the highlights Fight Night 147 delivered, the card has been marred by a shocking backstage brawl that has rocked the UFC.

After dispatching his opponent Darren Till by way of TKO, welterweight Jorge Masvidal sparked a shocking backstage brawl with fellow contender Leon Edwards who’s win against Gunnar Nelson was the co-main event of the night.

With the two winners backstage, Masvidal was giving an interview before he became distracted by something off camera.

It soon became clear Masvidal was trading barbs with Edwards, walking away from his interview toward the fellow welterweight contender.

“Say it to my face,” Masvidal can be heard yelling at Edwards.

As the pair came face-to-face, Masvidal let loose landing several punches on Edwards as trainers and officials rushed in to the fracas.

The ugly scene was caught on camera and brought up back memories from the wild brawl that erupted following Khabib Nurmagomedov’s infamous victory over Conor McGregor.

UFC senior vice president David Shaw confirmed the incident would be investigated and punishment handed down accordingly.

However, UFC president Dana White was not as measured in his assessment.

“I can’t even believe that this happened. We (the UFC) need to do a much better job of making sure this s**t doesn’t happen at any of our events!” he said, according to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto.
