Fists fly as riders involved in bizarre collision

//

A pair of riders have each been banned for two years after a remarkable clash during a round of Costa Rica’s National Motorbike Championship.

Jorge Martinez and Marion Calvo were battling for position when their bikes became tangled, as Martinez’s bike disappeared off towards the wall, he bizarrely ended up hanging onto the back of Calvo’s bike.

When Calvo came to a stop he turned to discover Martinez on the back of his bike, pushing his opponent away in disgust.

But Martinez wasn’t having any of it, delivering a right hook that would have done a boxer proud, and sending Calvo crashing to the ground.

Calvo was seemingly happy to go on with it, chasing after Martinez and pushing him in the back, before common-sense, and approaching bikes that were still racing, took over and the pair separated.

The Latin American Motorcycle Association has now suspended both riders for two years.
