Giants skipper in tears after knee injury

//

GWS Giants co-captain Callan Ward has been consoled by members of the Giants' staff on the bench after suffering another knee injury.

The incident occurred just five minutes into the first quarter of the Giants' clash against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium, as Ward's left knee awkwardly buckled under him in a tackle from Gary Ablett Jr.

Ward immediately writhed in pain on the turf following the incident, before being helped off the field by the trainers.

The 29-year-old was later seen on crutches walking along the sideline.

The injury comes at an inopportune time for the Giants veteran who was in his first game back from a lay off from a completely separate injury to his right knee.
