'Your knee is not meant to bend that way'

//

Canberra Raiders up-and-comer Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad has miraculously played on after gruesomely hyper-extending his knee in an ugly collision against the Broncos.

It was  great start by the Raiders, only taking them seven-minutes to get across the line through Nick Cotric.

Joey Leilua laid on the hurt with a double soon later, prompting Broncos star play-maker Anthony Milford to spark his troops to life.

Tearing through the line, Milford beat his defenders with a cracking step before he fell and barrelled directly into Nicoll-Klokstad’s knee, forcing it back beyond its range of motion.

The youngster immediately went to grown clutching at his knee as NRL guru Phil Gould was left queasy by the collision.

"Your knee is not meant to bend that way," Gould said on Nine's NRL commentary.

"That didn't look good did it?

"Sometimes it just scares you and they'll go through the process now of checking his leg. They're pretty good at diagnosing this straight away."

"But a hyper-extension is not good."

Miraculously, the 23-year-old managed to pull himself to his feet and see out the final minutes of the half before returning for the second.

Broncos great Darren Lockyer confirmed Nicoll-Klokstad was assessed by physios at the half who gave him the all-clear to return to play.
