Fittler names five debutants for Origin Opener

//

NSW coach Brad Fittler has named five debutants for the State of Origin opener against the Maroons on June 5, as last minute injuries forced the Blues coach to re-think his initial selections for the interstate opener.

Nick Cotric, Cody Walker, Jack Wighton, Cameron Murray and Payne Haas are the five rookies.

Luke Keary, Adam Reynolds and Mitchell Pearce all suffered injuries in round 11 and their misfortunes will hand Walker his Origin debut, while Nathan Cleary gets the nod to return to the Origin arena.

The squad will go into camp in Coogee for a week before flying to Brisbane.

NSW: James Tedesco, Nick Cotric, Latrell Mitchell, Josh Morris, Josh Addo-Carr, Cody Walker, Nathan Cleary, David Klemmer, Damien Cook, Paul Vaughan, Boyd Cordner, Tyson Frizell, Jake Trbojevic. Interchange: Jack Wighton, Payne Haas, Cameron Murray, Angus Chrichton.
