Freddy call locks in key NSW Origin selection

//

Cody Walker has just received the sweetest phone call of his life - from Blues coach Brad Fittler telling him he is in the NSW State of Origin team.

With the Blues losing Luke Keary, Mitchell Pearce and possibly Adam Reynolds to injury, Walker gets his chance on the game’s biggest stage after a stellar season for South Sydney.

“He is delighted,” Walker’s manager Matt Rose told Wide World of Sports.

“Cody has worked hard to get here all his career.”

Walker will be one of the oldest Origin debutants at the age of 29.

But he is a late bloomer, only making his top grade debut for Souths four seasons ago.

He has just one representative jumper - for Country in 2017 - but Fittler is confident he can do the job.
