Moving gesture to cancer-stricken Pies fan

//

Collingwood fulfilled the wish of a young fan with brain cancer, in an emotional club visit.

Kyron McGuire, 6, has just weeks to live, but the Magpies flew out the Perth boy battling the illness to meet his footy heroes.

He was diagnosed 18 months ago with brain cancer, but his parents received some more bad news a fortnight ago.

"We just found out some sad news that he's not got long left with us. Trying to make the most of what we can, while we can," Kyron's dad told Nine News.

Scott Pendlebury gave Kyron a custom Collingwood jersey as a special gift during his visit to the club and players met and chatted with the six-year-old.

"When you meet people like that, everything takes a back seat," Magpies star Adam Treloar said.

Daniel Wells and Travis Varcoe also took time to have a kick with Kyron, whose mum Markita Winmar is a cousin of St Kilda football legend Nicky Winmar.

On Friday night Kyron will run out with Collingwood at the MCG when they play Port Adelaide.

"We've been trying to get through day to day," his dad said.

"He's ten times braver than what I would be. He's a fighter."
