Powerlifter suffers horrifying injury

//

WARNING: GRAPHIC

A Russian powerlifter has suffered one of the most horrific injuries imaginable while competing in the World Raw Powerlifting Eurasian Championship in Khabarovsk, Russia.

20-year-old Yaroslav Radashkevich was attempting to squat 250kg when his leg snapped.

He was rushed to hospital with a serious compound fracture to his right tibia.

He told Amur that two weeks prior to the competition his leg had started to hurt, but he pressed on with the help of painkillers.

“The first two efforts the same weight, starting, I could not squat down. In the first and second attempts I strained a bit, my knees inward, outward, shaken. And after that the pain in the shins intensified,” he said.

“Well, in the third attempt, the same weight - when I squatted something happened - you can see in the video.”

Radashkevich is facing a lengthy period of rehabilitation, and will no longer be able to work as a personal trainer.
