'The greatest waste of talent of all time'

//

AFL reporter Craig Hutchison has said the GWS Giants run the risk of being the greatest waste of talent in the league’s history after a disappointing loss to Hawthorn.

After coming into the game in fine form, the Giants were once again humbled at the home of football, bringing to light the club’s woeful all-time record of 2-14 at the MCG.

Speaking on Footy Classified, Hutchison was frank in his assessment of the club’s future.

“That’s one of the best lists ever assembled,” he said.

“If their form like that continues at the MCG in particular and against the smarter tactical coaches in general, then they run the risk of being the greatest waste of talent of all time in football.

“If they don’t get something out of this era of talent it will be one of the great wastes of a dynasty of all time.”

Leon Cameron

The Giants’ struggles at the MCG have been well documented and coach Leon Cameron admitted that the club is aware of its issues at the ground, which includes two finals defeats in consecutive years.

“We've had our worst performance for a long time, on the MCG, so I understand what the headlines are going to be, so I can't sit here and deny that," Cameron told reporters.

"We've clearly got to look at when we come to Melbourne and when we come to the MCG.

"The record needs to be a bit better there but also better when we come to Melbourne, whether we play at Marvel or the MCG.

"We seem to have had a few issues over the last couple of years."
