Bombers win marred by leg injury to star

//

Essendon is set for a nervous wait regarding the health of star forward Jake Stringer after he limped off in the third quarter of the team’s win against Hawthorn.

Returning after a short layoff with a hamstring injury, Stringer was once again lively up forward but appeared to have turned his ankle in a marking contest and did not return.

Speaking at three-quarter time of the 14. 12. (96) to 11. 11. (77) win, Essendon’s General Manager of Football Dan Richardson said the team was confident Stringer had avoided a serious injury.

“He’s pretty sore, but we don’t think it’s anything structural,” Richardson told Seven.

“He’s in a bit of pain.”
