Currently sitting on the top of the AFL ladder, Geelong is set to attempt to further bolster its stocks with the off-season addition of St Kilda star Jack Steven.

According to an AFL.com.au report, the Cats are aiming to lure Steven, a Lorne native, back home for the remainder of his career.

Steven is currently contracted to St Kilda through the 2020 season, but has been the aim of the Cats' recruiting department numerous times throughout his career.

The 29-year-old reportedly gave a move to Geelong strong consideration last summer before remaining with the club that drafted him 42nd overall back in 2007.

Jack Steven

Since making his debut back in 2008, Steven has played in 180 games for the Saints, kicking 108 goals in that time.

However, the four-time best and fairest winner has had a massively interrupted 2019 season due to mental health issues, taking numerous periods of leave from the club.

Steven is nearing a return to the side where he will be playing under a new coach in Brett Ratten having made a return to football through the VFL last week.

The gun midfielder secured his fourth Trevor Barker Award last season on the back of a terrific season which saw him average 27 disposals per game while accumulating a career-best 18 Brownlow Medal votes.
