FFA boss David Gallop resigns

David Gallop is set to announce his resignation as chief executive of Football Federation Australia.

Gallop has submitted his resignation and will not see out the final year of his contract.

Football's governing body is set to undergo a major restructure of senior positions within its management tree following the announcement of the A-League becoming independent of the organisation, to be governed by the A-League clubs.

The former NRL boss was contracted until late 2020 and is understood to have voluntarily decided to step down from his role. 

He was appointed as FFA chief in 2012.
