Betts breaks silence on trade rumours as Blues circle

//

Adelaide livewire Eddie Betts has confirmed Gold Coast have expressed interest in luring him away for the next AFL season but it's yet to translate into a formal offer.

The 32-year-old, who is contracted until the end of 2020, refuted claims the Crows had delisted him and says he's been told he's a required player.

"I can say right now, honestly, there's been no offer made to me from Gold Coast or any other team. There's been interest but there's no offer that's been made," Betts told FIVEaa on Thursday.

"You keep hearing stuff about the age factor, you're getting old, we're going to rejuvenate the club. That kind of plays on your head a little bit.

"And then speaking to a couple of guys at the club and they've said I'm a required player, I'm contracted to 2020 and I'm not delisted."

After making three consecutive All-Australian teams between 2015 and 2017, Betts' form has tapered off a little like his entire team's.

While he still managed to kick 37 goals in 2019, 12 of them came in the Crows' two games against the lowly Gold Coast Suns, leading to rumours he could be dealt in the summer.

Betts' former team Carlton, in dire need of a small forward, has been constantly linked with the Crows star, and Blues coach David Teague did not rule out a reunion.

"Personally, I love him," Teague told RSN.

"I spent three years at Adelaide with him and he's a really close friend so I'm biased.

"This is where the list management side of things will come in, but we need to balance up our list and make sure we're probably looking down the track so it's probably a hard one to answer and I'd have to sort of step back a little bit because

"I'm a close friend and love him as a person. It's hard for me to talk from a football club point of view."
