Fan arrested for attempted 'punch' on Storm star

//

Already one of the more tense rivalries in the National Rugby League, Melbourne vs Manly may have added yet another chapter to its long list of in-game controversies, this time via an alleged disgraceful act by a fan.

Late in the Round 24 encounter between the two sides, Melbourne centre Will Chambers was sin-binned for a high shot.

It was there, when Chambers was leaving the field of play, where the alleged run-in with the fan occurred.

Speaking on Fox Sports' feed of the Round 24 clash, Lara Pitt broke the news.

"There was a fan arrested when Will Chambers went off to the sin bin," Pitt said.

"He tried to throw a punch at him (Chambers)."

Yvonne Sampson then doubled down, feeding what news she had on the situation.

"We are hearing reports that some local fans have been escorted out of the ground, after some unsavoury behaviour," Sampson said.

News that followed suggested the supporter, dressed in Sea Eagles attire, had leaned through the fence and attempted to swing at Chambers, who responded with words - before the fan was escorted out of Brookvale Oval in handcuffs.
